Many methods are known for the professional accomplishment of tartar removal. The process involves the removal of tartar from the surfaces of teeth i.e. from above the gum and under the gum as well. Based on the experience of previous years, tartar removal can be carried out by means of a so-called ultrasonic depurator which emits high frequency oscillations to have the tartar broken and come off virtually “in flakes”. In many cases, it is necessary to curetting the tooth which involves removal of the tartar under the gum with a special device and anesthesics, but that is a different procedure than the air flow tartar removal detailed in the followings.

Normally, one of the latest technologies, the so-called intraoral sand flow or air flow can be used to eliminate tartar and the formed discoloration. The device delivers a mixture of very fine granular material and water with relatively large force to the teeth, thus removing tartar and traces of unwanted discoloration. As a result of friction, it removes tartar even from hard-to-reach places almost completely, with much greater efficiency than previous technologies. Apart from anything else, the treatment is almost painless.

In order to regenerate the inflamed gums, thoroughness of the tartar removal is of the utmost importance, so airflow technique can be highly recommended for those who are already in this stage. After tartar removal, polishing teeth surface results in not only aesthetic changes when compared to the previous one, but also largely contributes to the tartar not to stick to the surface of teeth later.

It is important to mention that in cases where the gums of the patient is inflamed, temporary tooth neck hypersensitivity and minimal gum bleeding may develop after tartar removal (the same is the case when there is gingival retraction), but it stops a few days after air flow tartar removal, and inflammation of the gums (gingivitis) gradually ceases. The thoroughness of oral care at home is very important, careful attention should be paid to removing the plaque thoroughly!

Oral Hygiene, Dental Care at Home

The thoroughness of oral care at home is very important, care must be taken to remove the plaque thoroughly!

In our clinic, the air flow tartar removal has proved to our patients in many cases that, after tartar removal, they can feel free to smile, the yellowish stains expanded over the whole denture disappear, the bleeding of gums stops, bad breath and unpleasant halitosis cease.

You can often hear the phrase “you must learn the steps of proper toothbrushing!”, unfortunately, mostly at the dentist only. Incorrect brushing can be a source of many problems. As a layman, one might think that e.g. the stronger a toothbrush, the more effectively it cleanses the tooth surface, especially when rubbing hard. On the contrary, in the long run, you can only achieve that parts around the tooth neck may become inflamed by rubbing, leading to the development of parodontal diseases later. Instead of badly fixated movements, you should deliberately be careful to thoroughly and PROPERLY wash your teeth. Some key considerations:

On the contrary, in the long run, you can only achieve that parts around the tooth neck may become inflamed by rubbing, leading to the development of parodontal diseases later. Instead of badly fixated movements, you should deliberately be careful to thoroughly and PROPERLY wash your teeth. Some key considerations:Néhány kiemelt szempont:

    • • Brush your teeth concentrically instead of using horizontal movements, then starting from the gum edge, “sweep out” the plaque there with so-called “sweeping” moves!
    • • Wash your teeth for at least 3 minutes!
    • • Use a floss or an interdental brush. They can be used to remove plaque sticked between teeth.
    • • When it comes to the design of a toothbrush, it is beneficial if its head is small and the bristles are soft.
    • • The toothbrush must be replaced at least every 2 months!

Emphasizing the importance of proper brushing is never enough, justified by the fact that large number of dental problems can be attributed to inadequate oral hygiene. Non-eliminated food remains, plaque (which is normally often invisible) weakens the enamel, and over time, a yellowish-brownish layer is forming on the teeth, which is the tartar itself.

    Tartar and Gingivitis

First signs of the formation of tartar can be the unpleasant halitosis, bad breath, and later gingival bleeding, inflammatory diseases of the gums becomes a growing problem. The tartar which already has been formed can not be properly removed by home-based methods, specialist intervention is definitely needed for healing. The focus is not only on the expert, but it is also extremely important that we come to him/her in time!
